A brand new performing arts centre is a step closer, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos today announced local business Merkon Construction had been appointed to build the project at Bentleigh Secondary College.

The Labor Government provided $13.317 million for the project, which will give students the amenities they need and deserve.

The performing arts centre will include a 500 seat theatre and classrooms.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so every student can receive a great education in their local area.

In the past eight years, the government has invested more than $12.8 billion to build new schools and complete more than 1,850 school upgrades, creating around 17,400 jobs in construction and associated industries.

The Labor Government is ahead of schedule in opening 100 new schools by 2026, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024 – ensuring every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Education Natalie Hutchins:

“We’re building the Education State to ensure every Victorian student has access to a quality education close to home, regardless of where they live.”
