Dogs and dog owners in the Bentleigh electorate are set to benefit from the Allan Labor Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program, which is ensuring more Victorians have easy access to quality green open spaces to relax, socialise and play with their dogs.
I was paw-sitively delighted to join Deputy Mayor Cr Luca Ragni, Cr Kay Rimbaldo, Cr Jane Karslake, Cr Simon Parasol OAM JP, CEO Rebecca McKenzie and some local doggos this morning, to announce nearly $240,000 in funding for Glen Eira City Council to establish a new dog park in East Bentleigh.
This project will be delivered by Glen Eira City Council and will transform an underutilised space at Mackie Road Reserve into a fully fenced dog park with double-gated entry and natural play features. It will also enhance pathway connections, landscaping, and sheltered seating to encourage social interaction, improving the overall well-being of dogs and their owners.
I can’t wait to see this space given a new leash on life!
Quotes attributable to Member for Bentleigh and Minister for Local Government Nick Staikos:
“It’s not too far-fetched to say that both dog owners and their furry friends will have a ball at this new dedicated dog park in our local community. I think they’re going really to dig it.”
